Tyra Red is by Red Giant, a son of the great Giant\u2019s Causeway who is a perennial leading broodmare sire. She displayed significant speed and talent while in training but was unraced due to a training injury.<\/p>\n

Red Giant is a millionaire with earnings of $1,092,410.\u00a0 He was the world record holder for 1 1\/4 miles and dual record holder for 10 furlongs \u2013 stopping the clock at 1:57.16.<\/p>\n

The legendary Thoroughbred sportswriter Steve Haskin wrote of Red Giant,\u00a0\u201cYou won\u2019t find many horses who combine courage, class, speed, versatility, and consistency more than Red Giant. This is a horse who gives 100% every time and seems to relish a fight. There is nothing this horse can\u2019t do.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Tyra Red\u2019s dam, Christina\u2019s Courage<\/strong>, is by stallion Boundary <\/strong>(Danzig \/ Edge, by Damascus). Boundary entered stud at Claiborne in 1995 and sired 16 stakes winners, 48 stakes horses, and the earners of more than $21 million.\u00a0 His leading runners include 2008 Kentucky Derby-G1 winner and Champion 3-year-old colt Big Brown<\/strong>; 2000 Champion 2-year-old colt in England and Ireland Minardi<\/strong>; record setter and multiple Grade 1 winner Pomeroy<\/strong>; multiple GSW Conserve<\/strong>; and a trio of millionaires in Japan. A winner at 4, Christina\u2019s Courage<\/strong> has produced four horses to race, three of which are winners.<\/p>\n

Her second dam is the stakes winner Coni Bug<\/strong> who is a sister and half-sister to a graded stakes winner, and herself a producer of several stakes\u2019 winners. Her third dam Princess Carrie<\/strong> produced eight winners including several top stakes horses.<\/p>\n

Beyond her pedigree the most impressive thing about Tyra Red may be her\u00a0physical conformation.\u00a0\u00a0 She is a correct, well-balanced, big boned mare, with a particularly powerful chest and hip, and a beautifully flowing top line. She bears a strong resemblance to her sire Red Giant.<\/p>\n
